Hong Kong Pools – The Best Places to Cool Off in the Heat

A hot summer in Hong Kong is a time for cooling down and the best way to do it is by splashing around in one of the city’s amazing hongkong pools. The best thing about swimming is it not only cools you down, but it also helps to reduce your stress levels and makes you feel genuinely more energetic, thanks to the fact that it increases your heart rate. With the summer just getting into full swing, it’s well worth making a date with your nearest pool to soak up some rays and relax after a long day at work.

Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer looking for a new challenge or a beginner just starting out, there’s a pool to suit your needs. From hotels to public pools, we’ve got all the details to help you choose your perfect swim.

If you’re craving a dose of Romanesque grandeur, look no further than the palatial indoor pool at The Peninsula Hong Kong. Its imposing columns, coffered ceilings, and cornices create a stunning space to unwind and enjoy uninterrupted views of the iconic skyline. To top it off, the pool is surrounded by verdant green hills and offers access to a sauna and steam room too.

Another dazzling pool to enjoy the view from is The World, perched on the 76th floor of the InterContinental Hong Kong. With a gorgeous mosaic wall that’s sure to make for a perfect Instagram post, this pool will take your summer selfie game to the next level. With a whirlpool to ease your muscles after your workout and an annual membership for HK$65,000 that includes unlimited access, this is a great spot to get some much-needed downtime during your stay.

Public pools are reopening across the city, but there’s a risk that some will close lanes or facilities reserved for swimming instruction due to shortages of lifeguards. The union representing local recreational and sports professionals warned that 20 of the 45 public pools planned to close at least some of their lanes, without providing any reason for the move. “Besides affecting swimming clubs and students, the partial opening will also affect industry development,” said Lee Yuet-man, chairman of the group.

Those with children will be thrilled to hear that Hammer Hill Road’s destination pool is now open. The family-friendly pool boasts a huge water park complete with a pirate ship, waterslides, and fountains, as well as teaching, training, and Olympic-sized pools. If you’re still worried about overheating, don’t fret; there are plenty of hydration stations and shaded areas to help you beat the heat.
