We’re delighted to share that the sgp prize has been awarded to an article on “The Politics of a Single Currency” by Professor Matthew Turner. The article, which has recently been published in the Journal of International History, demonstrates outstanding research, deep engagement with primary sources and excellent writing. Congratulations to Matt and the rest of the team!
The sgp prize is an annual award for books that advance the study of international history, including those dealing with the theory and practice of world politics. In addition to offering the opportunity for scholars to receive recognition for their work, the prize also aims to foster a greater understanding of Singapore’s past among its citizens.
Since its inception in 2010, the prize has attracted an ever-increasing number of entries. The selection process involves a two-stage assessment: first, the books are reviewed by the prize committee, which is made up of the HIST section officers and a faculty member. Then, the shortlisted candidates are assessed by an independent panel of judges. The winner is announced at the association’s conference in spring of each year.
In order to increase the reach of the sgp prize, it has been decided that from 2025, the prize will be expanded to include works that engage with Singapore’s history in mediums other than books, such as art, film and multimedia. The Prize will alternate between the new Arts and Multimedia Category and the existing Book Category over a six-year cycle.

SGPs (single game parlays) are a great way to maximize the potential of winning a large payout on your bets. However, you need to understand how they differ from traditional parlays. Traditional parlays combine multiple events/games on the same ticket. This allows bettors to take advantage of correlated outcomes and offers higher payouts than single leg bets. Unlike the traditional parlay, SGPs limit bets to selections within a single game. This can be seen as a downside but can be beneficial for those who prefer to focus their research on a single event. Regardless, SGPs are an extremely effective betting strategy and can greatly boost your bankroll.
