In the wake of the recent unrest in Hong Kong, lawmakers have proposed a prize to honor activists who promote democracy and human rights. The reward could be worth as much as US$200,000, according to the legislators. The proposal has not been approved by the government yet, but it is gaining support. The prize could also include an opportunity to speak before a committee of the House of Representatives.
The Hong Kong International Literary Prize is a biennial award for works of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. The winner of the prize will receive an engraved gold medal and a prize money equivalent to HK$25,000. The prize is open to all writers living or working in Hong Kong. The submission deadline is 31 August 2024.

The written reports are judged on the relevance of the theme, systematic use of collected materials, and the ability to communicate Hong Kong’s distinctive historical status to a wider audience.

The eight-event Asian Tour’s elevated International Series season moves to Hong Kong Golf Club for the LINK Hong Kong Open, and the tournament will feature a $2 million purse. Sergio Garcia won last year’s event, and he will be joined by the likes of Dean Burmester, Abraham Ancer, and Luis Masaveu in this week’s field.
