It’s no secret that Hong Kong summers can be a little bit brutal. The blazing sun, the insufferable humidity, the torrential rain – you name it, it’s here. Thankfully, there’s plenty of places to cool down – and one of the best is the city’s incredible public swimming pools.
From large rooftop infinity pools with stunning views to splash zones for toddlers, here are the best hk pools to beat the heat this summer.
Located on the 76th floor of the W Hong Kong, this pool is a must-visit for anyone looking for a stylish and relaxing way to spend their afternoon in the city. Not only is it a great place to enjoy the view, but its ambiance also makes it an excellent spot to grab a drink or two, and kick back and relax.
This iconic hotel in the heart of Central is not only a shopper’s paradise, but it also houses one of the most spectacular indoor swimming pools in the city. Featuring an exceptional design inspired by Rome, the pool is the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing soak while surrounded by the iconic skyline of Hong Kong.
With a main pool, teaching pool, leisure pool and one designed especially for toddlers, the Tsing Yi swimming pool is a fantastic option for families with children. Unlike some of the other pools on our list, it’s not too far from Causeway Bay and Happy Valley so it’s easy to get there with kids in tow.
A fab little kid-friendly pool, Jordan Valley has everything your little swimmers could want – water slides (including baby ones), water-squirting dolphins and sharks, floating mini aquatic animals to sit on, and water fountains to dance under. It’s no wonder this is one of the most popular kid-friendly public pools in the city!
The only downside to this fab pool is that it is a short walk from Wan Chai, so it’s probably a good idea to save it for a day when you’ve got some time to kill. The pool has three sessions a day and they have a snack bar and lounge chairs to keep you well fed and entertained while you’re cooling down.
If you’re thinking of moving to Hong Kong with kids, consider the fact that most larger developments will have a swimming pool and it can be a huge benefit of living there! This is particularly true for multi-tower residential developments, where each tower usually has its own pool. Even smaller single-tower developments can often boast a small outdoor pool – not ideal for laps, but still a fun and social place for kids to meet their neighbours!
