Public pools are reopening across the city, but there’s a risk that some will close lanes or facilities reserved for swimming instruction due to shortages of lifeguards. The union representing local recreational and sports professionals warned that 20 of the 45 public pools planned to close at least some of their lanes, without providing any reason for the move. “Besides affecting swimming clubs and students, the partial opening will also affect industry development,” said Lee Yuet-man, chairman of the group.
Those with children will be thrilled to hear that Hammer Hill Road’s destination pool is now open.
